i work at a big bloated company, and its true. i would say out of a team of 8 people, one of them is some guys wife in a high level position on the team, making more than an intermediate developer but less than a lead developer. to be fair the job isnt hard its just time consuming, there are pointless bureaucratic processes and meetings that someone has to do. i have not interacted with any "software engineers" that fit this though, ther are lots of unqualified women working junior and intermediate coding jobs but they are there to fill quotas.
