ISTRIAN police have arrested an American citizen who was secretly filming naked children in a tourist camp, and suspect him of the criminal act of exploiting children for pornography, the police reported today.
The day before yesterday, at around 7 p.m., security officers at a tourist facility in Rovinj found a 32-year-old citizen of the United States of America filming naked children near a catering facility with a mini camera inside sunglasses.
Police appeal to parents to keep an eye on children on the beach
The police were immediately notified of the man's suspicious behavior, and officers searched the premises and technical equipment used by the suspect, as well as the content he recorded, and found incriminating material.
After completing the criminal investigation, yesterday evening, the suspect was handed over to the detention unit of the Istrian Police Department, with a criminal complaint.
"Such criminal investigations show that the public is increasingly aware of the problem of filming children and that citizens recognize suspicious behavior, which enables timely police response and the apprehension of perpetrators," stated the police, who once again appealed to parents to keep an eye on their children and to monitor where they are and what they are doing on the beach.
