>>511324840We do, it's just not mandatory.
Why would it be?
We relly don't teach much about the holocaust.
We have one normal class among many classes about WWII in which we are thought that jews were persecuted, put in camps and killed in horrible ways.
All because Hitler wanted all the Germans to be blonde haired blue eyed "Aryans" of a superior race.
And that racism is very very bad.
Our study of WWII mainly derives the following points home:
Hitler was very bad.
Germany lost because they were very racist.
The UK and Churchill were very good and put up a heroic resistance but they needed help to win.
Oh and they destroyed their Empire and Greatest Global Power status in that war.
That the US became the Greatest Power in the world.
That the USSR won the war too.
Then we are tought about the UN.
Then we are thought about the Cold War in the following manner:
After WWII there emerged two great powers, the capitalist side led by the USA and encopassing Western Europe.
And the communist side led by the USSR and encopassing the Soviet Union.
The USA and Soviet Union were always at the brink of nuclear war but they were both so powerful they never got into a hot war.
Instead they started to do proxy wars all over the globe.
Eventually the USA won.
Portugal was very bad because it was fascist and isolated but some how the good guys in the capitalist side welcomed us nontheless.
But the commies were also good because muh equality but they failed because they were too good, they were too idealistic and couldn't match the USA's economic power and capitalist tricks.
And then both the USSR and the USA tried to destroy our Empire.
They succeeded because we were very bad and retarded.
And then we had a revolution and joined the good side fully and became friends with everybody.
