>>511334894don't underestimate the effects of the infrastructure bill and American Rescue Act under biden. both of those were multiple TRILLION dollar stimuli, to cities, counties, state agencies as well as individual entities (corporations, nonprofits, foundations, etc)
the opioid stimulus money from the pharmaceutical judgement isn't small either- hundreds of billions. spread out over every state and every county, it might not be all that much but it's still several, several million per county (iirc, about $6 million in mine)
the economy's been crashing since september 2019, it's the hangover from the 2008 crash, which is itself the hangover from the earlier dot com and LTCM crashes/bubbles. it almost crashed in spring 2023 with silicon valley bank. now we're apparently at the point of, dumping raw printed cash by the trillion straight into the furnace of the economy via direct cash payouts in order to keep it going.
the next step in this ladder is either cyberpandemic/internet infrastructure takedowns, or open war, btw. probably both at the same time.
i worry about the boomers. they are about to lose their entire life's savings. i know they've had it good up until now but i still feel bad. i don't think a lot of them will be able to handle the shock.
