Championing anti-pedo politics and going after the clients was just aesthetics, a way to be against liberals and jews without substantial reason, just suspicion and memes. It's like how a witch hunt can come organically through stupidity and mass panic, but you can also use it to go after people you don't like.
Ultimately, the save the kids vibes were just like being a free speech warrior who only shows up for holocaust denial. It's an excuse to go after opponents, it wasn't a real belief. It was just a convenient thing to say at the time, like a noble lie or using divinity to prop up monarchy.
