Just use YouTube Premium. Not only do I not have any ads, it also means the video plays uninterrupted in the background, even when opening another app on my phone.

Downloading YouTube videos also has never been easier.

It also comes with YouTube Music Premium, which is a gamechanger if you want to listen to ad-free music.

It's easily worth the €11.99/month and I wish I would've bought a subscription much earlier.

The Brave browser still works for me. If you really are fucked with ads, you can always learn Jdownloader2. Setup a list and it'll automatically download new uploads, then delete after watching if space is an issue.

My Firefox adblock extension still works 99.5% of the time on Youtube. On the rare occasion where I get the turn off adblock message, I just refresh and it goes away.
