Elliot Rodger was a literal interpreter of social norms. Most people call him a narcissist for being obsessed with expensive clothes, cars, foreign trips and whatnot, but they never realize that those things are what normie society values. People are status obsessed, want big houses and expensive clothes while driving luxurious cars. ER wasn't someone subverting society's morality, rather he followed it quite literally.
He was shy, introverted, possibly neurodivergent. He played video games such as World of Warcraft as cope. But his real life circumstances weren't all that bad. He was a decent writer, and with his father's connections, he could've easily turned it into a career. But adolescence hit Elliot hard because he subconsciously realized that men who get female attention automatically achieve higher social standing than men who are ignored by women. This realization must have rocked teenage Elliot so hard that he spent the rest of his life trying to get women, because he thought that was the only way he'll be respected by society.
Unfortunately he was right, that IS the only metric of value which normies accord to men. Notice how all insults hurled online at men ("virgin" "get pussy" "0 hoes" "get bitches" "incel") are all insinuating that the person being insulted is less valuable because he doesn't have access to a vagina. Elliot grew up in Hollywood, probably the most gynoZOGed, hedonistic, degenerate place on this planet. If he was anywhere else he could have possibly learnt a more meaningful way of life or tried to pursue some hobby, instead of just thinking about sex and women all day.
