Most of the features associated with religiosity (belief in a creator, deliberate structure of universe etc.) are not directly related to iq. More importantly self identification or perceived identification in religious groups does not seem to indicate whether someone is a piece of shit or not. I will be generous and say generalizations might not indicate someone is a piece of shit either but that is not as qualified by factual data.

the more irrational a claim, the higher IQ you'd need to be to intellectually justify it.
you'd need to be a "mental gymnast" instead of a mental couch potato who just say "nah uh."
another example outside of religiosity is gender identity. these people who think if they cut off their wiener that they can actually become real women typically have above average IQ.
it's true there are a lot of retarded religious people, but almost all atheists i've met were shallow thinkers with zero imagination, ingenuity or creativity, things necessary to reconcile talking snakes with reality.
