Ok so, Nvidia is leagues ahead of their current competition in the market right now. Say you have a company that wants to begin competing with them, it will take years to simply get established, then it becomes game of playing catch up while Nvidia continues to innovate with a rock solid foundation. That assumes no fuckery by Nvidia to snip a potential competitor in the bud

Tell that to Intel who started making GPUs just in the last few years. They have some software issues here and there but for the most part they are making competitive mid-tier chips.

The real reason why all the chips are made in Taiwan is because it's a neutral area not controlled by any of the superpowers. The designs come out of the west, the materials come from China, and the chips are made in "specialized" facilities in Taiwan.

This is how they plan on running the world in the future. No country will have control over their own economy and will rely on the other countries for the survival of their own economy.

GDP is essentially human capital propped up by fiat. The tech sector rises logarithmically through institutional investment, so it's government propping up the value of humans if that 'amerijewish' economy is as fake as you say. And if you don't like what this implies, tell me if you can find a single institution that can get away with printing money apart from central banks. Even venture finance is willing to go into debt to gamble on tech while people basically need to be held at gunpoint to pay into social security and taxes. Only reason debt to GDP has been soaring is because a few barrels of oil can outproduce hundreds of manual laborers, so government prints and creates fake work to justify population pyramids. In reality they're beginning to view domestic populations the same way the average person views the homeless, no one cares if police beat homeless and remove them from sight, but if someone keys your car you'd want their head on a pike. Industry is the car and the general population is the hobo on a macro scale.

anon gpu sales are like a drop in the bucket compared to what nvidia makes selling cards for datacenters and ai companies. thats why gpu companies treat gamers like second class citizens with shit tier pricing and no stock ever available because even if they sell 0 units and get the worst press possible it wouldnt matter, they're still selling 8-10 grand cards in bundles to huge corporations that cant get enough of them. and those corporations are so desperate for cards they end up dipping into flagship models anyway, they'll gladly pay 4-5 grand for 5090s. and because of the chip ban in china theres a huge blackmarket demand for them when they're smuggled into the country.

No the criticism for GDP is that's it's essentially fake money that government prints out. That's quite literally what the original post I replied to was talking about. Most countries GDP is tied to pension plans, public works, and entitlements. You can quite clearly see that the private sector almost entirely decoupled from the domestic economy around the 1970s. The US used to be like 70% agriculture prior to this then government started subsidizing it because you can get like 3 people to run a farm that feeds millions, even corn harvesting is almost entirely automated. In fact that's why the US produces so much corn to begin with, it's one of the few crops that can be almost fully automated.

Precisely. It was the main form of meaningful employment. I think most problems can be fixed via culture and giving up on the American dream. If someone wants to pursue a high end career then college should be for specialists. Everyone else should have an easy-in to some kind of agricultural work, but I know full well why this isn't the case. It isn't money, because money is fake, it's because the public isn't predictable. Government would rather subsidize a sector and automate it than risk an essential sector being taken over by peasant mutiny. Also there's ecological problems, like population booms, supply of fresh water, agricultural tribalism causing stricter retention of human capital. Generally once you get caught in an agricultural loop very few people want to venture outside it and when resources start running out they start invading other lands. I'm not a 'government evil' kind of guy, I can see the rationale, their 'solution' just happened to be worse. Unironically HRE-styled feudalism would be preferable, federalism has a constant problem with overreach.

Those non communist chiner bugmen beat everyone on highest quality (biggest, fastest and most power efficient) with low defects % semiconducting manufacturing processes.
Fucking Intel, fucking AMD/Global Foundries, fucking IBM, fucking Samsung & Hynix, fucking japanese semis all LOST against them.
Both Intel and AMD are forced to use taiwan bugmens foundries to make competitive CPUs, despite that both of those giga corps have own foundries that their poured countless billions into (AMD still holds majority stake at GloFo).

Last time companies tried to manufacture same chip at multiple foundries - like taiwan+GloFo, or taiwan+Samsung, the exactly same chips from the later came out with 20-30% higher power draw and 20%+ lower max possible speed clocks.
Do you think people would care about their shitty island and semi foundry to do business with them if their chips quality was worse?

nvidia produces chips for nerds to play videogames. Germany produces every single machine you use in your life. Without nvidia the world would continue existing as if nothing happened but without german industry the entire globe would get back to the stone age

Investors think that AI is be the Next Big Thing (TM) and that Nvidia is going to be a quasi-monopoly supplier of AI chips allowing them to extract huge profits

Personally I doubt that Nvidia's role will be as globally dominant as investors expect. Even if Nvidia can successfully hold domestic competitors like AMD at bay, there are still the Chinese. DeepSeek showed that the AI expertise of Chinese companies is not worse than that of American companies, and Chinese AI companies are for political reasons going to prefer Chinese AI chips to the extent they are available. Chinese AI chip suppliers are going to greatly ramp up chip production over the next 5-10 years; China's semiconductor foundry sector is the fastest growing in the world. I also think China will do a better job ramping up electricity supply than the US will.

anyone with access to 4nm chip production can replicate what nvidia is doing. Most big tech already have their own processors and ai chips. nvidia gpus need 500 watts because they take their worst chips and slap a 10 lbs heatsink on it and shovel it to consumers. Their datacenter chips barely need cooling at all.
