Suppose I run a porn site.
I own all of the servers, no third party hosting provider. They're on a property I own located in the state of.. oh I don't know, Oregon.
I allow anyone to access it as long as they click "I am over 18". No age verification is provided.
The UK government sends me an email telling me I need to perform age verification of any user from the UK.
In response, I send them an AI generated photo of King Charles III being raped by a rottweiler.
Legally speaking, what recourse do they have? I'm an American citizen, and this is an American website. How are they going to arrest or fine me? The only thing they can do is block my website from their own ISPs. So... why are are US websites bothering to block themselves ahead of time?
