My theory all along why Trump has gone for tariffs is simply because of this. They are broke, flat out broke and its so bad now that they have to try to pay this down somehow.

And they do that through taxes on the american consumer, and its also why he wants a lower interest rate so it gets cheaper to pay off a chunk of the debt.
