Is that HOI4? Is it any good? I've been playing a lot of Civ 5 recently. Just beat the game on immortal difficulty as Adolf Hitler. Felt good.

Yeah I have the community patch mod (makes the AI way smarter--like playing against humans) and the JFD's civilizations mod for Adolf Hitler. You need both because the latter depends on the former.

Yeah thankfully you can usually get deals that include all of the dlcs for cheap during steam sales. Or just pirate since nobody uses multiplayer anyways.

i tryied a black ice mod and it was only less boring, but if you need a huge mod to fix a game it's not worth it

HOI4 is a grade or two above Civ on the autism scale. Nothing drastic though, you'll probably like squeezing fun out of Paradox games given that you're modding civ5 in the current year. There are plenty of revamp mods as well once you start getting bored of the vanilla.
Stellaris from the same devs is fairly similar to Civ though. It along with Crusader Kings could serve as a good entry point if you don't care about the setting very much.

Are there any other Grand Strategy games that are good? Been trying to get into the genre more because it's high IQ. Extraction shooters are decently high IQ too, but more focused on tactics rather than strategy. And I'm a pretty shit tactician in all honesty. Hunt Showdown is a great extraction shooter because of the traps, surveillance, and sound design. The gun play is shockingly good too. Really great game.

My main goal is just to play a grand strat game that isn't hex based. Something with real geographic borders so I can larp as a high ranking politician/general better. Crusader kings looks cool.
