The minecraft farlands aren't a coding mistake as previously thought, it was a botched implementation of the mandelbrot set of complex numbers, specifically the zoom-in such that y-level of 0 is 2, depth of zoom is X and Y is one of the dimensions, this means the spirals and periodic block-voids that occur correspond with the black area on the mandelbrot set, to make sure it stays entertaining, gaps of void are skipped. This means, at least in theory, if you set world border out far enough, every combination of every block arrangement, will occur in an enumerated fashion.

If you find a chest with a rare item in it, you can follow the line for an infinite number of that item in that chest.
