I think forensics and general crime solving capability is a lot more advanced than it was 50 years ago. You could argue there is a cultural aspect to it as well. A lot of would-be serial killers probably end up becoming school shooters instead, or just living out their fantasies vicariously through gore content on the internet.

DNA testing and mass surveillance = murderers get caught before they get serial killer numbers. 30-40 years ago getting away with murder wasn't that hard. Wear 2 pair of rubber gloves over eachother, 1 pair leaves prints, when 2 pair 'slide' over eachother gently there's no prints. Dump everything you wore or used in a river. That and keeping your mouth shut was pretty much it for getting away with murder. Every street corner has a camera now and one hair is enough to ID you.

Everyone also has at least one distant relative who did a stupid online DNA test to find out if they are part indian or whatever, if your aunt ever did 23andme they got your family DNA and a lead.

Everyone who works in media, and government organizations knows this. Why would they demonize what is loved by their most loyal goy cattle?
Women are extremely unstable to begin with. Throw in liberal mindsets, and they are like a bomb ready to go off any moment. To keep them pacified we don't talk negatively about illegals, serial killers, goyslop, abortion medications, etc in the media. Everyone knows that these women are an absolute headache to be around or to hear talk, so we keep them silenced with a constant stream of good feels and propaganda. It makes life a little easier for the rest of us.

Talk bad about a serial killer in the media (especially one "of color") and your entire bloodline for the next thousand years will be canceled. No job, no bank account, no credit, nothing.

About half of the serial killers caught in the US were born in the 25 years after ww2. Boomers.
They are now old and the younger generations aren't as murderous.

These "unsolved" cases are 90% niggers shooting niggers in drive byes. Usually the cops do know (through snitches) who shot who, they just can't prove it. When the shooter gets killed or get a life sentence they quietly put these "unsolved cases" away.

Serial killers still exist. They just don't report them as frequently because they're mostly niggers and spics.

Also most iconic serial killers were virtually unknown until after they got caught or years after they started killing and a large part of it was because it was utterly outrageous at the time.
Now you hear about mass killings, shootings, and stabbings and shit every week so when a serial killer does get caught it's not major news because some nigger, spic or mudslime killed more people than this serial killer did in a single gunfight or mass shooting.

There are estimated to be at least 50 active serial killers in the US, and potentially many more.
There are multiple active serial killers working as long haul truckers, and clusters of unsolved murders indicating a serial killer in most major cities.
Despite what people think, the homicide rate has dropped from over 90% in 1965 to barely 50% today. A big part of that is due to large numbers of black on black inner city drugs/gang related homicides, that no one really cares about enough to put a lot of effort into solving, and all of the potential witnesses do not want to cooperate. But this also makes it easy for serial killers to blend into that and fly under everyone's radar.
Most murderers get caught because there is either a direct connection/motivation between them and the victim, and/or are retarded and make the most basic mistakes that lead to them getting caught. Even supposedly "smart" murderers like Kohberger or Mangioni made tons of idiotic blunders that allowed the police to identify them almost immediately.
If someone went out and murdered a random person that they had no pre-existing connection to, and took the most basic precautions, there is almost no chance that they would get caught.
