Eating out in America is a scam. In Quatar and UAE, the tourists areas for Westerners have decent prices and much more food. It honestly doesn't make sense why it's so expensive here.

Depends. There's a millennia old tradition of poors getting their cheap mass produced meals from taverns and street vendors which was akin to modern fast food, the only problem is modern regulation has pushed the price floor ever upward. In principle it's not a scam but in practice in 2025 you're probably wasting a lot of money you probably don't have. In any case though if you can afford it it's not a scam. You've got to be able to afford it though.
