I was finishing my PhD when my first child was born and another was on his way. It made me hyper-focused and productive, much more than before kids (and I was no slouch either). I love my work but kids have definitely made me more efficient with my time as well as seek a healthier balance in life. I got back into lifting weights and sports to be a better role model for my sons. Before I “didn’t have time” whereas now I make time. I also don’t just live for myself but for my family which is a very big difference between me and DINKs and I notice it in their overall behaviour and outlook. They just lack a certain perspective and maturity.
