I don't know anything about its nature but it is said to be able to reset the surface world civilizations once activated. Maybe it messes with the geomagnetic field or uses AI to print a virus that kills everyone, I don't know. All I know is it is apparently missing and someone may be intentionally hiding it to prevent the reset.
