What made it unique was its belief in using a party and the proletariat to violently overthrow the capitalist order to implement communism.
And belief in having the proletariat violently overthrow the social order wasn't itself even unique, but rather an inherited strategy from earlier Russian socialists like Chernyshevsky that filtered down to Lenin.

So when the communist government taxes away all the grain in a region because it expects there to be even more than there actually is based on projections, what happens? Everyone starves.
