I see major trouble on the horizon for Ford, I think their strategy is wrong, I think their quality is awful. Fords are not appealing at all anymore and haven't been for quite a while. Its pretty rare to see Fords on the road here now, they were everywhere when I was growing up. Maybe the only segment they can still compete in is trucks

Like literally
There's a dozen versions of everything you want on every shelf. Buy the cheapest one. That's what every American has been doing for 30 years anyways. It's how china took over. Now that same phenomenon means every tariff is as if trump were magically killing their sales. The consumer doesn't pay the tariffs if the thing stays in the store. The store doesn't pay the tariff if they stopped replenishing inventory.

The tariffs are like when Americans got confused with a 1/3 pound burger and a 1/4 pound burger and thought they were getting a better deal with the 1/4 pounder. It's not surprising Americans want even more tariffs because they think other countries are being forced to pay up.

Seventy fucking thousand dollars for a normal family car. Who pays this?

By the time it's paid off, it'd probably need service 5 times just because of how poorly these things are built now.

Who is "you"? I dont run a grocery store. I'm not a retailer. I'm a consumer, and I will not keep buying things that are too expensive.
All these corporations are anti white pro immigrant and everyone of them that goes out of business is a victory worth celebrating.
They aren't and won't go out of business though because there are still products not affected by or least affected by tariffs. You'd maybe have a point if tariffs were uniform but they're not. Some countries have higher rates. Not everything is going up in price evenly. And trumpnis ensuring that tariff rates are a product of a a nation's adherence to America's wishes.

Demoshits and their lackeys have been attacking the idea of tariffs since the start in the hopes of convincing most people they're bad without ever proving they're bad. These car companies got shipped overseas years ago. Build quality has gone down and price has gone up. The kikes who shipped our manufacturing overseas told us it would make things more affordable. It as done double the opposite. Shittier quality means more replacements are necessary and higher prices means it costs exponentially more to ever own a fucking thing.
It's only getting worse too.

Our shit is expensive not because of some handwavy 'muh labor' argument, but because we allowed outsourcing in the 80s,90s, and 00s to a degree that our industrial base was hollowed out.
China is able to make that shit cheap, because they have massive factories dedicated to churning out say, car axles, or brake calipers, while all of our factories that did that were shuttered in the 90s and 00s. All that's left are small factories that don't have the benefit of scale, and charge accordingly.

Our window of opportunity to revive our industrial base is closing rapidly, as people age out of the labor force, and people who know how to do X or Y, literally die of old age. I don't give a shit if it's painful in the short term, it's important that we become an industrial titan again, because without that, you end up with 30-40% of your population being completely unemployable outside of dead end low service jobs that can mostly be automated.

Higher labor costs, and regulations DO have an impact on final cost, but so does the transportation cost, and more importantly, the fraud cost of chinks sending you nickel plated chinesium, instead of nickel plated steel. We could compete just fine, if faggot boomers hadn't chased sub 10% gains at the expense of our future.

Tip: don't buy anything from USA, instead search for safe chink companies that sells stuff from china directly.
Pro-tip: don't use Amazon or any other gay shit, look ways to import stuff, boat shipping and delivery by yourself. (Example A $1k toaster that's sold here, you can buy it at $300, taxes included, if you do look for the chink manufacturer)
Tips for jannies: kys Fucking faggots
Extra tip: think big, buy in bulk when importing stuff. Big profits/saving money is easy if with this out of The box technique. It's mandatory if you want to start a business with a low budget

But on a consumer level, itโ€™s literally impossible, fundamentally; because quality, price, and brand matter, particularly within the US, with extreme levels of capitalism, profit before quality, profit before health. America needs $15,000 new cars on the market, whether these are EVs or ICEs. A large portion of the population has been priced out of buying new cars and used cars and their maintenance are becoming prohibitively expensive. This problem is emerging quickly, though its roots go back a long way.
In five or ten years, a third of the population will have difficulty getting to work or doing errands due to lack of transportation.
If we're going to do American only, then US automakers need to start building basic cars: no power windows, no amenities, just a four cylinder engine small vehicle that gets you and a passenger from point A to point B.
Or, lender standards will need to be loosened so that the lower 40% or so of the population can finance used cars again. But with $600 per month payments, and then insurance costs too, even that probably wouldn't work.

I dont know if enough people want the kind of car that you describe, for a major automaker to make it. There's a market for it, I don't know how large it is. Thats why people finance cars. Interest rates need to come down. High payments only come with low down-payments and high interest because of poor credit. If you have a good credit score and $15,000 you can buy a $30,000 car and finance the rest of it and have a reasonable car payment that will be manageable along with insurance. Some people buy a $45,000 car with no money down. Automakers sometimes offer promotional interest rates for new cars for people with good credit scores. Subaru had 1.99% on the outback and Ford had 0% interest on some trucks.

These people are so retarded they said the cheese wedge design wasnโ€™t pedestrian safe because they would have their legs swept and hit their head on the car, so they made all cars flat fucking walls so the whole body is instantly smashed.

Iโ€™m dead serious. Current safety analysis shows the current car designs are significantly more dangerous to pedestrians.

What's really crazy is that my 2020 Ranger had the highest domestic parts content of any vehicle on the market that year, at 85%. Just a few years later, the 2023 model was only like 45% even though it was the "same truck." I can't even find numbers for the new generation. Ford had the ability to make these vehicles almost entirely in the US and they threw it away.

My big issue is just with the tariffs kicking in so quickly, and how chaotic they've been. If it had been "here's the complete tariff package, you've got 2 years to spool up US manufacturing before it kicks in" I think it would've been much more beneficial. Instead what we get is a disorganized hodgepodge that sometimes works against itself (as with incentivizing importing whole cars instead of parts) and it gives companies the chance to just hike prices and see if consumers will keep buying, and in many cases that lets them just continue as before only we all get fucked even harder than we already were.

because they were always half-measures; the only thing that might work is a big-enough jolt to actually re-shore the entire value chain, even if it stings at first.

The off-shoring experiment already cost the West its industrial base and handed China permanent know-how.
Simply letting โ€œthe marketโ€ decide will keep China on top forever, because once the ecosystem is gone, incremental price signals arenโ€™t enough to recreate it.

Therefore you need a shock: high, broad tariffs that hurt in the short run (higher prices, layoffs in downstream sectors, possible retaliation) but make it impossible for firms to keep chasing the China price.

CAFE isn't helping, but there's a lot more to it than that. Plenty of companies do still manage to sell cars, but people aren't buying them. Countries that don't have CAFE are also going through the exact same thing as well, crossovers are dominating the UK and parts of Europe now too. The real culprit, as is so often the case, is women. They're statistically responsible for around 80% of new car purchases and for whatever reasons they've decided that "SUVs" (but not real body on frame 4x4 SUVs) are the fashionable thing to have and anything else is unacceptable.

>sure

Germany & Japan, they met CAFE, US vehicles did not. US a;;ready had existing level of trucks & SUVs. Easy path, make more of those, content them up, finance for 72 months or more, and sell those. Since we're shooting facts from our asses, single women flock to cities to live. They aren't buying SUVs, Uber or Lyft. It would only be married women with children and that's a declining stat.

"Noooo, they'll just raise prices guyze!!!" and if so they will immediately confront >elasticity of demand<. Importers add nothing, they are a pass thru. If they want to keep selling they will take shorter margin to maintain sales velocity.

Tariffs are well studied and companies do eat the tariffs almost always. The reason is fairly simple. If a company could just magically raise their prices by 30% without impacting their business they would, tariff or no tariff. They can't so they won't. Tariffs are mostly absorbed by the foreign country the tariff is targeting in an attempt to retain market share against price sensitive consumer.

Why would you want a car? SUV's make more sense in virtually every sense unless you do a lot of driving fast on empty highways. The first mast produced "car" was the Model T, equivalent to an SUV.

Does that look like a gay low to the ground sedan to you? No, it doesn't. Sedans and cars are for sport.

The majority of people in most American cities outside the NE Corridor commute by car, and young women are absolutely buying them, go to anywhere like LA and the roads are full of 20- and 30- something women driving alone in small crossover "SUVs".

As for Germany and Japan, they haven't been spared either. Subaru just killed the Legacy, the Outback went from a wagon to an SUV, the Crosstrek massively outsells its more car-like Impreza sibling, and the only traditional cars with trunks in their lineup are the sporty ones. It's a similar story at the other Japanese and German companies too, their top sellers are all small to midsize crossovers now, with the RAV4 recently becoming America's top-selling vehicle, the X3 and X5 outselling the sedans at BMW, and so on, Porsche selling way more Macans and Cayennes than 911s or Panams, and so on.

Have fun dying in a electric car fire.

Jul 29, 2025
Matson, a major U.S.-based cargo shipping company, has announced an immediate and indefinite halt to all shipments of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) across its entire maritime network, citing rising concerns over fire hazards linked to lithium-ion batteries. The decision affects routes between the U.S. mainland, Hawaii, Guam, and Alaska, creating massive logistical headaches for both automakers and private owners trying to move EVs across the Pacific.

This unprecedented move follows a string of high-profile shipping firesโ€”including the June 2025 loss of the Morning Midas, which sank after a suspected battery-related blaze aboard its vehicle deck. Matson confirmed the decision in internal customer emails, noting the risk of thermal runaway and the challenges of suppressing EV battery fires at sea.

Ford used to make the Crown Victoria. It was actually a successful car killed off for literally no reason.

>Midway through the 2003 model year, Ford introduced a series of cost-cutting measures to all Panther platform vehicles, which were estimated to save around US$4,000,000 (~$6.35 million in 2023) in production costs per year.[32] The Crown Victoria saw numerous deletions including the removal of the remote locking fuel door, body-colored mirror caps, auto parking brake release, engine compartment lamp, front seat bottom pouches, dual media CD/Cassette radio, power-adjustable pedals (except LX models), foam sound absorbing inserts inside the headliner, black B-pillars (now body-colored), silver "V8" emblem on the engine cover, and the elimination of the rear stabilizer bar on all non Fleet, Handling, or LX Sport versions. Several colors were also deleted: Aspen Green Metallic, Chestnut Clearcoat Metallic, Deep Wedgwood Blue, Gold Ash Metallic, Matador Red, and Silver Frost. These changes took effect in December 2002. The de-contented 2003 vehicles are often referred to as "2003 Job #2" and "2003.5" models.

>With falling retail sales and increased focus on other models,

Sales had declined because they quit advertising it. Then they shitted up the next year and of course people who wanted loaded cars got others.

Ford intentionally killed off the Panther, but we don't entirely know why. It's not for a practical reason, so it must have been inner politics.

we must murder them all or something. this has to stop. when these bitches are so fucking stupid and unwilling to live a normal life then theyre useless and can be killed off.

They made them untill 2012(2008 for consumers) but stopped advertising them in 2004.
They still claim they lost money on that platform despite all the years they made it with almost no real revisions.

That's sadly now an old timey way of owning a car.

What's desired is to have people just keep driving the car until warranty is about done, then trade it in for something more new. The monthly loan payments are practically subscription/monthly fees, and all the servicing is done at the dealership anyways. So to most people nowadays, they don't even think about the 75k or the amount of time til it's paid off, the most important number people want to hear is how much they're putting down per month (very shortsighted and rentoid brained).

>Before we let foreign imports into
Product A turning to dog shit isn't the fault of Product B. USA auto makers shit the bed as we moved towards reduced emissions in the late 1970 and 80s.. Got a bit better but still failed to match the design levels in the 1990s.
Then from around the mid 1990s until almost modern day where perfectly happy to just cash in on over bloated luxury SUVs and pickup trucks. As taste changed into the 2020s USA auto makers just shit the bed again... As they just can't break away from over priced trash they can sell to dumb people with 96 month financing. Dodge being a good example.
Nothing is stopping USA auto from making decent cars, we just don't bother

So in fact decisions you make early in life carry a long way. Never bought a car that costs more than 5000. Every repair ever done by me. I know people who pay 20k+ for a car and then thousands a year to keep it driving. Later got a university degree in IT so I could theoretically buy newer cars but I don't like them and I don't like wasting money.

It's just like a dream you can hold in your hand.
Taurus stole your heart once, it will steal it again.
It's promises made, it's promises kept.
It's a dream within reach, and it's you at your best.
(Taurus) making the dream come true for you, making the dream come true.
It's a cherished part of the American heart, a vision that's shinin' through.
(Taurus) making the dream come true for you. Making the dream come true.

Ford doesn't need Trump's help to commit suicide. They started when they abandoned all small car development for SUVs and pickups. Look at all the issues they've had with the Bronco which is just a rebadged Ranger/Escape. Ford is really fucking bad and I wouldn't touch any of the American brands with a 10 foot pole.

Please PLEASE buy a Sequoia if you're dropping that cash on a car

The GMs spin bearings and nickel and dime you and the Fords have cam phaser/timing chain and transmission issues at higher miles. At least the biggest issue with the Sequoias blowing motors was already fixed. GM is just now owning up to the Yukons blowing motors.

>Ranger/Escape
I think you're conflating the Bronco and Bronco Sport, the Escape-based Sport hasn't had much trouble as far as I know, unlike the Ranger-based Bronco - which is extra weird because the Ranger its based on has been pretty solid aside from Ford's notorious 10 speed transmission issues.

What drives me crazy is that Ford has a much better Ranger-based SUV, the Everest, but they refuse to give it to us and instead we get the Bronco that's just a whole pile of issues and dumb compromises just to let the doors and roof come off, a feature 90% of owners will probably never take advantage of.

Sedans are shit. Get a wagon. If you're getting car that won't handle rough terrain but will be cheap in maintenance then why give up additional space? When I was moving I got to move all my stuff including furniture in 3 runs using Vectra.

This. Who the fuck buys car costing as much as a flat? Give me just AC and maybe ABS and steering wheel assistance for comfy and that's all. No need for heated seats, electric shit, screens and other bullshit. Just make it cheap and bathe it in something to prevent it from rusting in couple years.
