I recently have started being able to tell when people are from Washington, Idaho, or B.C. by speech alone. There is definitely a developing regional accent. "Caught" and "Cot" are both pronounced the same for example.

Everyone has an accent. Ours is pretty close to what you here on TV is all. There are some sort of distinct features though, like the tendency to speak with a creaky voice. Easterners will notice the accent has the caught-cot merger too.
