There was one night when UR played at the Old Lion. First gig without Jeff Mills as that very week he split because he started thinking he was Jesus or some shit. Anyway, The Vision (Rob Hood) took over DJ duty, and damn, he was fucking good., Anyway, suddenly the cops show up whining about noise and up front shu8t down the venue with what I reckon was easily 1500 people+. So Scotty, who ran Underworld just opened the doors and got as many people in as he could fit. Rob decided to he wanted to play, and he did the entire night in that basement. Blew everybody away. The Ark was alright, but it was a bit of a dive. It was the start of the "lets just make heaps of money with a shit system and some black plastic" phase of the scene. Went to a lot of shows there though. They had Saturday's pinned down for ages. The Juice guys did a Secret Weapon launch there. I also saw Frank De Wulf at the Ark. That was a great night. He was actually a seriously good DJ. All the Belgian guys I saw were. CJ Bolland at Toxic at Le Rox absolutely mopped the floor there. Perhaps the best rave set ever played at that venue and that's a big call. He did it again years later at Traffic.

TBA was 1992. The launch was upstairs at Boltz along with 004. I know these records well. I honestly don't hear it. It's more playful than the Detroit gear. They had a much harsher and strict sound at the time. Ironically Theo was a much better producer than Cam ever was. How they managed to switch places on the totem pole will always be a mystery to me.
