>>512188016 (OP)>Why do millennials like "safe edgy" humor, such as mocking of British and French people? The central maxim of woke morality is ‘punch up good. Punch down bad’. In other words anything directed with hostility towards a group perceived to be powerful (white people, Christianity, men, rich nations, historically powerful nations) is good. Any hostility or critical directed towards a group that is seen as less powerful is bad. (Brown people, Islam, women, Tranners, historically less powerful countries). Truth and facts are irrelevant. Fairness is irrelevant. What matters is punching up good and punching down bad.
At its peak, Britain was the most powerful country on Earth by far with an Empire that spanned over one quarter of the globe and with phenomenal scientific and cultural influence that is really only approached by the modern day USA sort of. Then WW1 happened and things started to turn to shit for the U.K.
The U.K. is now a small and mostly culturally progressive European country with minimal influence and a completely stagnant economy very over reliant on the financial sector of London to stay afloat. A bit like Germany, English people have a psychological complex about their history that stigmatises patriotism and facilitates restrictive authoritarian anti-racist hate speech laws.
Nevertheless, because of ‘muh evil empire’ history Brits get the brunt of aggression from woke lefties.
