Chicory-Coffee-and-Cholesterol-Health-Boosting-Potential-1
This is what the Confederates did during the civil war when the Union blockade prevented them from importing Coffee from South America or whatever. There is no blockade currently, but the tariffs are making the price of coffee skyrocket. Some states like Hawaii can and do grow some coffee, but its nowhere near enough to meet the demand. That's where Chicory comes in. You might have it growing wild in your backyard as we speak. Why pay for coffee when you can make your own for free just like the Confederates did back in the good old days?

Or I could switch to some black tea with a little milk and sugar.

I have seven tea bushes. I used to have eight but I moved it and the root was all weird and I severed the root and it died. I am still going to leave it and stuff to see if it comes back to life. I've seen that happen before, my persimmon tree just up and died, then two years later it had leaves again and now it's doing great.

You should, of course, properly clean the roots before roasting and brewing them. I mean, carrots and potatoes are also roots that come from the ground, but you wouldn't eat them dirty, would you?

And even coffee can be dirty. For example, there's a type of coffee collected from the poop of some cat that eats it. I would sincerely hope that coffee is cleaned very thoroughly beforehand. If its not, its far dirtier than a chicory root would ever be.
