corporate ownership of residentially zoned real estate was ILLEGAL before 9/11. if you bought a house prior to 9/11, you were literally only competing with other american families.
two decades after 9/11, we are here wherein blackrock owns pretty much *all* of urban real estate. you have ZERO chance of buying a house if THEY want that house. for any reason. YOU want to live there; they have no reason to live there and would never. just might want it just to bulldoze. who cares? they have the money and you don't.
that should be completely repealed; all corporate owned residentially zoned real estate should be governed off by the government, and/or literally opened up.
GIVE
ME
A
FUCKING
21ST
CENTURY
LAND
RUN
like it's wild to think some of my ancestors like 5-6 generations removed literally just lined up, waited for a cannon to fire (or didn't...) and just .....ran out onto the land and said "OKAY THIS IS MINE NOW!"
lets just do that. every single american family that doesn't own a house just gets first bid on corporate owned real estate. first and foremost.
THEN, taxes SHOULD go up for additional properties. if you want to own another home, it should be taxed so heavily that there is absolutely no way you can turn a profit renting it out, airbnb, etc etc. there's no flipping. there's no boomer with a HELOC loan on his other 12 properties coming in with a briefcase full of cash and taking your first home.
get fucked; until everyone has a house you don't get two.
we fucking put a limit on TOILET PAPER, a literal non essential.
but there's no LIMIT TWO on fucking HOUSING lmao.
