You do realize that Poland was one of Europe's great powers, but got fucked hard after the Deluge and weakened massively and never really recovered resulting in its partitioning and being erased from the map and losing sovereignty for like 123 years during 19th century (which was a crucial century for national development)??? If not for the Deluge and all the resulting wars after it, like WW1 and WW2, today there would have been around 100 million Polish speakers in Poland. Definitely on par with Germany, as historically, the Polish Commonwealth/Republic rivaled and had similar population as the Holy Roman Empire and Muscovy/Russia.
