I worked with an Indian who straight up told me that he bought his undergraduate degree in India. He said when he came to Ireland first that he failed hundreds of interviews and couldn't get employed. So he decided to do a masters here. For that masters degree, he paid two different people (back in India) to complete his assignments for him. He was also paying freelancers in eastern ?Europe to proofread and check their work. Despite that, he barely scraped by and had to resit his exams before finally graduating. And even then there was pressure to let him pass because he was paying international student fees and if Indians were failed that would interrupt that cashcow (because they would only go to the schools that let them pass).

Anyway, this Indian was also very proud of lying to get his initial job. He already made up a bunch of lies about prior employment in India (with his Indian buddies backing up his story) so combining it with the masters he could enter in at a higher level.

This guy was hired by a boomer because he willing to take half the pay of someone at that level. So expectations were already set that he only has to be half as good to be "worth it". In the end, after 11 months he was finally "let go" because he: never wrote a single line of code. Couldn't understand very simple instructions. He would insunderstand everything and people learned quickly to bypass him all communication chains because he was just saying wrong information or just making shit up out of thin air rather than admitting "Bob is on holidays, I didn't get a chance to ask him".
