"Judaic tribe of hebrews" is a meaningless combination of words. The Pharisees were a Jewish sect during the Second Temple that followed oral law as well as the written Torah. They were distinguished from the Sadducees, a more aristocratic group who followed the written Torah and rejected the oral law the Pharisees regarded as binding.
