Netanyahu wants the IDF to occupy the entire Gaza strip while the soldiers are becoming exhausted and burned out, while he continues to help to keep tens of thousands of eligible Haredi men from serving in the IDF during this manpower shortage. Of course, advocating for Haredi men to serve in the IDF would make Netanyahu a hypocrite, as his two sons are not serving in the IDF but instead are abroad, investing in real estate, and costing the Israeli taxpayers thousands of dollars a month in security costs to protect them. Yair Netanyahu has for years publicly badmouthed IDF general officers. These days this newest Netanyahu generation's motto seems to be "fighting for your country is good for thee, not me". I don't understand why the Israeli public puts up with it in this time of war and sacrifice.

I fear this is a disastorous move. What will the IDF accomplish that it has not already done? if 22 months of war has not broken Hamas to release the hostages, how will this do so? Israel can't rule Gaza will be a catastrophe; they couldn't even make the food distribution work smoothely (not the fault of IDF, but some things just don't work). And Israel might win Gaza, but it's going to lose Washington; not worth it!
