No one wants to say the quiet part out loud, but hear me out. Free speech isn’t a hall pass to wreck your life with zero accountability. Self-censoring online and IRL ain’t a betrayal of your “principles” it’s just comon sense. Think about it for one fucking second
Words have teeth one dumb tweet or drunken rant can cost you your job, your rep, even your senpai. You think you’re immune just cuz you’re “Anon”? Servers don’t care about your fedora collection. Better to filter yourself than wake up to a termination email or worse.
Credibility > Edgelord points
Want people to take you seriously on here or on LinkedIn? Spamming conspiracies and slurs every five seconds just makes you look like a clown. Self censoring means you pick your battles and your words. That’s how you gain real influence instead of racking up ignore lists.
Protect yourself and Others
Casual hate speech and half-baked conspiracies aren’t harmless memes. They fuel real world violence, get you trawled by feds, and suck in vulnerable normies who actually believe your garbage. Anon, anonymity isn’t magic. Data gets handed over when things go sideways.
IRL etiquette Matters Too
Same rules apply at Thanksgiving or the bar. Ranting about replacement theories or how “ZOG” controls everything will get you ghosted at best. Keep it chill or get shown the door, maybe even a patrol car if you push it.
Even the UK Is locking people Up for praying. Yeah I know, sounds tinfoil, but UK cops are cuffin folks for prayin in public and banning literature they don’t like. It’s fucked up but proves the point: no speech is “safe.” Better to self-police than let them throw you in the slammer for thoughtcrime. If you disagree just fuck off
So yeah, self-censoring sucks if you’re all about “muh purity”, but it’s the only way to stay free and get shit done. Take control of your own filter, or watch some suit or officer build it for you.
This can’t be argued with.
