I do keto for about 3 months after christmas because we overload on carbs during festivities. Its a good way to lose weight and you can still eat vegetables and fruits as long as they're high in fiber.

I use shredded cabbage for my Alfredo, cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes or rice, low-carb tortillas as wraps for sandwiches, asparagus, broccoli, cucumbers, mushroom, green beans, peppers, occasionally crushed pork rinds for breading, zuchini fries and cooked pumpkin.

Your stomach digests sugar first to give you instant energy. Your large colon digests fat last to grease the exit. If your intestines are full of fats from meat and oils and you eat something sweet, your body instantly converts back to a sugar burner and you absorb all that fat.

I went on the keto diet:
Started riding my bike 2 miles, then 5 now 10 every other day
Lost 32 lbs
Blood sugar, A1C - dropped
Cholesterol dropped from 227 to 159
Blood pressure dropped 15 pts

Our complex has a pool and gym so I swim a few time a week.

Keto is a really effective way of losing weight because reducing carbs so low reduces the cycle of insulin spikes and suppresses ghrelin secretions so you don't get as hungry. Between that and keto burning fat it's really easy to lose weight on it but the majority of people on keto never address their relationship with food and either fuck up their health from all the processed fat keto-friendly foods or balloon back up when they eventually reintroduce carbs back into their diet. Another issue is that a lot of people on keto focus on purely weight loss and not fat loss, they never account for protein or retaining muscle or even exercise so the ones that end up losing weight and keeping it off end up looking sickly or skinny fat.
Keto is effective if you don't fall for the traps and address your initial relationship with food in the first place. The biggest benefit of keto is that it makes CICO easy since fat is satiating and that fasting is pretty easy on it for people who care about autophagy

I tested this by eating low fat greek yoghurt and high fat grass fed chuck for 5 months
(I wanted to see if grass fed made any difference because I always got indigestion eating red meat and came in very sceptical about it)
So every day I had a 600g steak and 600g high whey low fat greek yoghurt (around 2k calories starting from 95kg bodyweight)
Continuing training 30 minutes per day otherwise all same.
So this for me was a reduction by 600 calories, first to lose weight.
Secondly compositional change to nearly 0 carbs when previously I had a ton of carbs.
At first I felt lethargic and dead for about a week, after that I had the most energy I've ever had (baseline from wake up).
I eventually went back to eating carbs because I just enjoy cooking too much to limit myself this way but I'll admit carnivore people may be onto something.
Oh and at first my shits were pathetic but that resolved naturally also after a few weeks.

Forgot to add that I dropped from 95kg to 71kg in the first 3 months then plateaued here for the remainder of this little "experiment"
Muscle retention was decent due to regular training and high protein.
I did nearly injure myself by not easing into the weight loss with training
All in all I liked the results but not the eating one thing every day part
