Why would they bother building factories in America? They're already tariff exempt.

it was part of his announcement.
if you make investments into the US and can thus reasonably convince the US that you are planning to produce over there, you will be exempt from the tariffs.
it's one of the few times I actually think he approached this tariff stuff in a smart way.
forces them to become active right away, but still gives them a reasonable timeline to keep their promises.
if he just slapped them with a tariff with no way to avoid it, they wouldn't bother to invest into the US, they'd just try to reroute their products to other markets

based af. Only problem is that unions, minimum wage, and the average burger mind will make it burdensome to keep jobs in the US

What happens if they don't? Setting aside the fact that doing a stock buyback would probably qualify as "investing in America", even if there's expectation that they'll build a factory, they just need to drag their feet for 40 months.

NVDA rules.. I put $20,000 into it in 2018 and now it's over $500,000. Eventually this shit will crash like Cisco did in the 2000s but I am ride or die with this stock.

If they would keep the cards at msrp it wouldn't be so bad but they practically promote scalpers. amd is the top dog right now. no one is close in cpus with intel giving up and shooting itself in both feet.

>Only problem is that unions, minimum wage
I guess the boards of directors in all those international conglomerate trillion-dollar mega corporations are going to have to choose whether to give their CEOs a $900 quintillion bonus for showing up to work sober (just because they spite poor people) or use that money to raise wages.

Such a tragedy

He can just devalue dollar like normal person if all he cared about is manufacturing. Even if they manufacture something with overvalued dollar it wont be sold anywhere. Historically america bankers were fine with propping up china as sweat shop but its not viable strategy. Now comes the new american model of sabotaging others like europe, India or brazil while hoping there overpriced products will be sold because of monopoly. Its like last breath of a dying fish

They're contributing their fare share by investing $600 billion into the US economy. By doing a stock buyback they'll be re-shoring a significant portion of the company.
