Any time the issue of magic ever comes up, I remind people that every people that ever lived who believed in magic ended up getting defeated and conquered by those who did not believe in it. If the forest spirits were real and your tribe's voodoo rituals actually worked, then your people would never have ended up colonized by Whites.

So because we've ended up in a world where all magic believers were defeated and magic deniers are ruling over them, I think its safe to conclude that magic isn't real.
