Why are we Europeans such fucking cucks when it comes to the protection of our private property? Here in Spain if you harm a burglar in your house, you'll get prosecuted for it. There's an old man in my area who's in jail right now for shooting one of two niggers with a shotgun (non fatal), they entered his home at night to steal jewelry.

I don't know the specifics of other EU countries but I know it's pretty fucking bad as a whole. Why is there such a resistance to changing these laws?

I installed something like these. They are called Barricade Brackets.
Went to a sawmill near me - those still exist - and got a few pieces of white oak to go with.
The brackets are screwed to the wall studs with 6"x1/2 steel lag bolts and fender washers.
Someone can still defeat it with a chainsaw - and things like that happen here. But if you put a piece of 1/2" rebar in the crossbar it will keep that from happening.
You can also do like the South Africans and put internal security doors inside your house. I have not done that yet, but it is on the list of shit to do.

You can load it and leave it in the corner till the heat death of the universe and it is completely safe - you have to thumb the hammers back to make it ready to fire. Can't do that with a hammerless gun - the internal hammers reset on opening and stay that way till you pull the trigger.
Very useful, fast and versatile. Got a lot of miles on it. Though I do have to install a sling at some point because it gets fuckin heavy.

Besides, if I had to - and I really wanted to save it if that happened - I can mill away the backface and silver solder a piece of mild steel to bring it back into spec, then reindex the firing pin holes.
Normalize the receiver in a heat treat oven, then re-bone-charcoal the receiver to bring it's surface hardness back up to it's Rockwell spec again.
I have that skill set. Few do anymore.
But that's a lot of surgery to save a middling shotgun with zero historical value.

If you want to talk strength for shotguns, the Winchester Model 12 has more locking lug surface areas than most turnbolt rifles.
The receiver and bolt are made from blocks of tool steel - they just removed anything that wasn't shotgun receiver or bolt and went with that.
It's heavy and it almost never breaks. I love it.
That's the problem - you love working on the good stuff but the good stuff almost never breaks, so you almost never see it.

The 37 is old enough to have had that external choke installed - looks like a corn cob stuck on the end of the barrel.
What they did was turn a few inches of fine thread on the end of the barrel, then cut the barrel twice at 90 degrees to the respective cuts
Meaning the end of the barrel was turned into a 4 finger "spring" that could be narrowed or widened as you turned the corn cob one way or the other.
This was long before internal chokes were around, and it involved modding the shotgun from original
Which means you are not going to destroy any collector value by chopping the barrel down to riot gun lengths.
Not sure if there was enough meat on the barrel for that though - the wall thickness of the tube was pretty thin, as I recall. I know for a fact they did it for the M12 because I got one in the next room in the rack.
