It just depends on what you consider a societal collapse, so Im going to assume you mean a breakdown of government (and likely the supply chain and power grid).
Any significant stressor on the system as it is now would trigger a breakdown. Year by year we develop new ways for, and make more efficient the old ones of "ending the world". Simply, whatever stops people from going to work or prevents them from getting it done on a large scale would do it.
For example, a genetically engineered disease with an over 10% kill rate (if it were to become widespread) would probably cause most of the people who work in power plants to not want to come in to work, or truck drivers not to deliver, or military personnel to not want to stand at a guardpost. This is ignoring the social unrest that would be caused by legitimate supply chain shortages, and the inevitable attempt to quarantine and lockdown people/cities.
This is also just one scenario out of thousands that we are entirely responsible for creating, and not even the most likely or horrific.
