Politically wishful thinking would say that people would be socially conservative because it implies that they aren't socially dissident. In reality plenty of people of either aisle are on some dissident addiction spectrum and wishful thinking doesn't usually change that.

Economically people would wish to be liberal, because this implies that we have an abundance to be shared and ample workers of whatever skill sets needed too. In reality we have skilled workers and critical resource shortages, and again, wishful thinking doesn't change that.
