I've known a few criminal psychopaths and they definitely were paranoid and not fearless.
Their strength was that they would set up scenarios where it was always armed vs unarmed, numerous guys vs one, threats to family etc.
A lot of their time and effort as criminals was just talking to people, digging for information, rumors, finding weak people and addicts to control.
