Capitalism creates its own ruling class. The physical and unseen architecture always creates a moneyed liberal class (that turns to fascism when it needs to, then back). So you can't remove the cogs and expect the machine to fall apart. All humans left will take up the roll of a cog.

You break the cycle by having humans become socialist who are immune to capitalism. And then you destroy the cogs either violently like you say which is the surest way, or (foolishly as most marxists would say) through democratic means with sheer mass of bodies of a large socialist population that basically ignores globohomo creating their own parallel society - own gov, cops, etc. so the capitalist class basically has to play along and be absorbed or just give up.
