They think you owe them because they are Ukrainians. Ukrainians are the light of humanity, angels in the flesh, because at the cost of their blood they hold back the hordes of vile orcs, whose oil, gas and rare metals Europe buys no matter what, directly or through third parties at a huge markup, bringing in much more money to the Russian budget than the damage caused by sanctions. That's how it works.
