If you have the discipline to not stare at your phone all day, you can live a pretty healthy life. And while the classic disciplines are slowly dying, they're not dead. You can still be an engineer, carpenter, metalworker, electrician, etc. Automation is assisting but not taking over completely yet. Or you can be an artist that uses traditional mediums or a musician that uses traditional instruments. We're really in a sweet spot in our evolution and we'll eventually look back fondly on these days.
But it's not going to stop. It's one of our worst traits. If it's something we can try, we're going to try it no matter how detrimental it is to our collective health as a society. Basically, the long and short of it is, they're trying to take away your ability to swing your hammer. Never let them take your need for striving away from you. It's the only way anything has any meaning. When you have to work for it. Everything else in life can be made easier, that's a good thing. But you need purpose.
