The reason this is so hard for people, is because these rules are not being followed by everyone consistently.

And these errors exist even in the algebra engines that come with some software packages because yes even computer programmers can be idiots and use the wrong algorithm or feed a stack from the wrong side making a fifo instead of a lifo.

6/2 is a number, the 2 is not its own thing here, it's the denominator of the 6. The number is 3. 3x(1+2) is 9.

When you multiply with a fraction, you multiply with the numerator of the fraction, which is 6.
6x(1+2) is 18, divided by 2 is again 9.

The answer is 9, now and forever.

If you want it to be 1, then you would have to write the equation like this
6/(2x(1+2)), now it is 1.

The 2 is right next to the brackets so you’d include that as a ‘single term’. It would be 6 over 2(1+2). Of course it’s retarded and no one would ever write this down like that but the answer is clearly 1
