To be fair, many traditional cultures punish and even execute rape victims for having become tainted, despite it not being their fault. It's just a thing humans do. And of course, being raped carried permanent stigma. People will see you as damaged and potentially dangerous for the rest of your life if they know you have been raped. So yeah, being a rape victim makes you sort of sus.

Absolutely true. My dad, a kid in Chicago at that time, has many stories about when, first, the Puerto Ricans moved into his neighborhood, and then knife fights began. By the later 60s it was blacks moving in and drive by shootings began. That's when his family moved the fuck out of the area.
But yeah, the late 50s is when the spics came in. And industry began moving from the north to the south, where labor was much cheaper.
