Absolutely true. My dad, a kid in Chicago at that time, has many stories about when, first, the Puerto Ricans moved into his neighborhood, and then knife fights began. By the later 60s it was blacks moving in and drive by shootings began. That's when his family moved the fuck out of the area.
But yeah, the late 50s is when the spics came in. And industry began moving from the north to the south, where labor was much cheaper.
