The reason why China is asking their tech companies to suspend NVIDIA chip purchases is due to the fact that the ones being sold and approved by Trump to China are a weaker and less powerful chip, the H20, that MAY be backdoored and tracked and introduce a bunch of security problems for China. They are asking their tech companies to not buy the H20 chips and instead demand NVIDIA for the more powerful chips that they have. THE CHINESE STILL NEED NViDIA AND AMERICAN TECHNOLOGY. retard, all Nvidia video cards are produced in China. Chips might be made in Taiwan, but the whole assembly and other details and schemes all made in mainland China. The "unsanctioned" version also are made in China. If they wanted they`d simply stop producing Nvidia cards and then there`ll be NO cards for youand everyone. Theres no magic backdoor in chip. The cards have an actual 3D mark score that was published, and are roughly comparable to mid 40 series nvidia cards.
On that front, they don't need nvidia, they are prepared to replace them at the consumer level.
They have been making modified PCB designs to use nvidia cards with configurations, but the only thing they actually want is bulk tensor cores.

They get these by stacking 4090's and 5090's. As that option isn't closed off to them, they will continue scooping them up in bulk. While they wont need nvidia in the future, they will not cease to collect cards with tensor cores for AI farms until they can knock off a tensor core at scale.
