Just keep asking "what is the point of X?" and you will always arrive at the conclusion that all oppression and exploitation in a post-scarcity society is due to sexual competition, and thus racial conflict is closer to the truth than class conflict. Sex is the only basic need that cannot be acquired without being "better" than other people, and thus sexual competition is the root cause of all inequality in advanced societies. Societies becoming more individualistic and competitive as scarcity is eliminated is not a paradox, it's precisely what you would expect for a sexual species and it's precisely what you observe in experiments on other sexual species. Food, water etc is PvE and cooperation is optimal in PvE. Sex is PvP and PvP forces competition.

There is no such thing as a capitalist/socialist/communist/etc society, there are only societies where food/water/etc scarcity forces people to stop competing for sex, and societies where food/water/etc are sufficiently abundant that people no longer need to cooperate and can can instead focus all of their energy on sexual competition. That's why every great civilization experiences the same cycle, first struggling against scarcity, then solving scarcity, then abolishing sexual taboos, then cooperation collapses as sexual competition creates darwinian forces that favor selfishness, then back to struggling against scarcity again now that the large-scale cooperation that made post-scarcity possible is no more.

Walmart, McDonalds, and a bunch of other minimum wage companies literally encourage their employees to apply for government benefits to subsidize their low wages. Yeah I remember being on ChallengerTalk forums, there'd be off topic posts about various thing and some boomer was talking about how he started his HVAC company in the early 80's and it was wild. Guy had practically no savings, no experience in anything to do with HVAC other than recently taking some night courses, and he received a loan from the bank for all the starting capital he needed. Imagine trying to do that today. There's a ton of threads like that along the lines of "what was your first car and your first aspirational car" and whatnot and people will just talk about things in the 60's-mid 80's that are just wild to hear. No so much for the cars but just having some job right out of high school and being able to comfortably rent a 3 bedroom house on one income for instance.
