Only the Western half of the Roman Empire collapsed.
The Eastern half survived until 1453 and is now usually called the Byzantine Empire.
The Eastern or Byzantine Empire was also christian.
If christanity was so bad why did the christian Eastern Roman empire survive for another 1000 years?

The collapse of the Western Roman Empire was caused by the crisis of the third century which was a series of civil wars lasting about fifty years.
This damaged the empires ability to prevent barbarian intrusions.
This originated in Romes dysfunctional political system which was an unsatisfactory mix of republicanism surviving in the senate, monarchy in the form of emperors, and military dictatorship.
This always caused problems in the sucession of power and this broke down again in the third century.
Most of the fighting was in Italy so this had a terrible effect on the West and began the process of the capital moving away from rome.
