How are people who live in remote areas, or those who live in repressive regimes, supposed to follow jesus if they've never even heard of christianity? Furthermore, how are they even supposed to know right from wrong? Do they just go to hell after they die by default?

Children don't go to hell, they are born into sin but also born with purity and innocents because of ignorance. Everyone is appointed death, even children, and everyone is appointed a day of judgement afterwards. The divine courtroom will judge everyone person according to their faith. The bible says everyone is born with innate knowledge of the Creator, and can also know the Creator through the Creation itself so that no one is excusable by law. God the Father is the ultimate judge, Satan is the accuser, and Jesus is your lawyer. If they live in remote areas and never heard of Jesus then God will judge them on whatever they did have. Obviously they are losing out on the grace of our Lord, which is why we want to spread the Gospel. Once Christ takes over the Earth and reigns, we lovingly want to invite everyone into the kingdom, so that they will be blessed.
