Gavin Newsom channels a similar boldness and charisma to Trump’s 2016 energy, but with a sharp focus on progress and forward-thinking leadership. With his rising influence and calculated moves, a tsunami of momentum seems to be building behind him, as more people rally to his vision for the future.

Who else getting hyped?

That was before Trump though. A decade of TDS has made them more aggressive. The AOC shills will be made of the Kamala voters that were desperate to see a woman president and will be downright rabid to realize that dream. Not to mention simps. The Newsom crowd will be made of people that know they need a White man to get the centrist vote back and Democrat Old guard that will not go never support a radical like AOC. Its is going to get ugly, and I will enjoy watching every minute of it.

Meanwhile JD or Trump Jr. will handily secure the 2028 nomination, unless Trump abolishes term limits, which, why not? Don't see much of a problem with a third Trump term.

If the president has a good term and is loved by the people. His successor is more likely to win the nomination. Best example is in 1988. Regan was coming off one as one of the more well loved presidents. So, when he gave the nod to Bush, that CIA spook had no trouble getting the nomination.

Eh, it's better for Trump to be able to continue his policies himself. If his term is good, we're only like, barely a year into his Presidency and I can see a lot of good stuff that's come from it, both for the US and the world at large. Will it stick the landing? Dunno, I unironically thought Obama was good for his first year, too, so have to see.

But term limits don't make a whole lot of sense to me. If you have a good leader, who's liked by the people, why would you not want him to continue to work?

Like a lot of things in the US, it is established by prescendent. George Washington refused more than 2 terms. So out of respect presidents for over 130 years after did not seek a third term. Then FDR comes along and breaks with tradition. After than however, out of respect for FDR, Congress makes that tradition a law.
