She has a Soil Biology PHD from Berkeley. She is working as a baby sitter senpai. What is up with Capitalism? College was a lie.

You want to talk about fucked up, I am old Millenial. I could have gotten a good job in the early 2000's when careers were still a thing. I could have been a Sheriff in the SF Bay Area peninsula making bank. I had the job set up for me. But I joined a cult instead and I am only now entering the job market with no job experience or college with you plebs.

Heaven would have been to be a school teacher out in the middle of nowhere, prefereaby by Humboldt, in the forest, by the ocean, but married to a frumpy Emma Myers from Minecraft type woman.

I could have had it too. My cousins are all living that lifestyle. Some of them have PHD's and live comfy lives making good money.

Muh immigrants do the jobs Americans won't do

The good news is leftists will be the first affected by this (automation and AI/imported ethnic in-group preference/gangsterism) so we all get to sit back and laugh.

The American dream has pivoted to the grift as a concept. Its no longer about making an honest living; that ship has sailed. Our society is built on collective lies and honesty fundamentally doesn't succeed in such a system.
>>513492733
Intellectualism is in a precarious state at current moment because:
>government funding got yoinked nationwide because of "woke universities" even though a lot of federal dollars went to stem stuff anyway
>Nobody actually absorbs intellectual information anymore. Did you write a doctoral dissertation that provides insight into a material improvement on the world? Cool, nobody aside from you, your advisor, and your phd commitee will ever read it. People already use ai to parse these documents instead of reading them. Language is academized such that interpretation is only for similar social classes.
>The average corporation has NO desire for capital expansion because they're so focused on short term. Entering new markets or investing in actual intellectual power is seen as risky. Furthermore, its not that PhDs these days are dumb (although some inherently are), its that they outclassed themselves from the labor market.

The gaps left by these things are going to create a competency crisis in about 5 years because when the market shifts to slightly better conditions, they won't have anyone to fill the higher up intellectual labor needed to produce complex systems. The smartest thing for a master's or phd student to do at current moment is to just continue skill acquisition by any means. While they might not hire you ever again, you will be better equipped to rebuild once shtf.

College started becoming a scam almost 2 decades ago. That's around the time when people who graduated could still get jobs but salaries were getting lower. Since then the job market only got worse, but colleges kept pushing the narrative that graduates could find great jobs and make more money. But that hasn't been true for around a decade. I'm sure some graduates do well, but it is no longer the norm. IMO at this point colleges are committing fraud by promising highly paid careers.
