Many British people have signed an official petition to Parliament and the UK Government demanding a new general election immediately. Hundreds of thousands of signatures were gathered as the Online Safety Act began enforcement.
The Keir Starmer government has now officially responded to the massive petition with this statement:
"The Government was elected on a mandate of change at the July 2024 general election. Our full focus is on fixing the foundations, rebuilding Britain, and restoring public confidence in government."

The government then officially closed the petition.
