As far as actual survival goes, height gives you a reach advantage in a stand up fight (fake, ritualistic combat and sports) but is actually a handicap for grappling, and most real fights to the death go to the ground quickly. Excessive height also causes a host of health issues that will only increase the longer we remain in this period of r-selction. It's actively causing our extinction like so many species before. Our advanced intelligence and consciousness is supposed to help us notice these trends that drive every other animal to extinction so that we can be the exception. We'll see if that's enough.
