Because people are still stupidly using the API public facing interfaces. Largely, AI is failing because people don't understand it or how to create personal UIs that would make it work they want. I work adjacent to AI and am getting amazing results via prompt injection and vector files to provide a working memory for AI sessions. But I'm not sharing any of my ideas here because why would I? I already gave you three clues on making AI a useful tool.

ChatGPT has been good for doing background research on the novel I’m writing, to get a gist for the general way a governmental system works, the main works and themes of a certain genre of French poetry, lists of words which are appropriate synonyms for a certain short description, a survey of fertility deities in world religions and a comparison table of their distinct features, stuff like that. I ask for academic sources for each of its points, most are real but some are made up. You do need to cross check things to make sure it got the right context and defined the nodes in a network correctly, but ChatGPT is great for helping you organize the structure of the information you are researching
